There was color, actually
It is a fair bet the Editor would have picked this up on Sunday, but the news industry is all about the scoop.

I noticed my brain was a little freaked by seeking images from this time in color. I suppose I subliminally absorbed the idea there was no color, even though rationally I would not have said any such thing.

There are a lot of ideas that float around that we take for granted. But they where not always commonly accepted. Before there was the American Revolution, there was Cato’s Letters. One of these letters was called “Of Freedom of Speech: That the same is inseparable from publick Liberty”.
Hard as it is to believe, back in the day this is what passed for an op-ed.
