Tim Walz did show up, a little later, accompanied by the Secret Service. Howe observed that once they arrived, the Secret Service agents began wanding those who entered the church. But they never did anything about the 75 to 100 who were already inside the church when they showed up. No effort whatsoever was made to assure security with respect to those people. This was particularly striking to Senator Howe because he was carrying at the time. Given the location, it is likely that others who attended the funeral, and were already inside the church when the Secret Service arrived, were also armed. This is the kind of absurd failure of security that typified the Secret Service’s actions in Butler, Pennsylvania: the most obvious security precautions were not taken. This time, the protectee was a Democrat.

Putin proposes changing Russia’s nuclear doctrine to allow attacks on non-nuclear states

When the Russian invasion drove hundreds of thousands of people out of Ukraine to Germany, Tegel became a shelter for refugees. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement in tents and in parts of the terminals, a place where people could rest for a couple of days, do the necessary paperwork and then continue on their way to other parts of Germany or to real lodgings elsewhere in Berlin. But the days turned into weeks, weeks into months – and, for some, the months have turned into years.

“Shippers should think through the ripple effects,” Sea-Intelligence advised in its latest weekly report. “A strike will trap vessels off the US coast, as there are limited options for diversions. This will lead to export capacity shortages on the Atlantic trade in Europe after 2-3 weeks, and in Asia after 5-7 weeks. Additionally, this will reduce the inflow of empty equipment into Asia, also with a 5-7 week time lag, meaning a potential shortage of equipment and space, on all Asian export trades from 2nd half of November.”
