It is something of a surprise to see Robert Reich coming out against the bail out of General Motors. But he makes a fair case that bailing out General Motors does not advance liberal ideals, much less conservative ones.
This week’s essay of the week is “A Tale Of Two Depressions” by Barry Eichengreen and Kevin H. O’Rourke. It is a very interesting essay, but one has to wonder at their claim that the policy response this time around has been better. The evidence from their own essay does not seem to support that idea at this time.
