Nobody thinks of Arabs as being great soldiers. Still, some of the anecdotes in the above essay may shock even those who had low opinions of Arab capabilities. It raise the question of how much of Israel’s recent problems with Hezbollah stemmed from a real decline in Israeli military abilities (as some have alleged) and how much of it stems from the fact that Hezbollah does not fight like a traditional Arab army?
