Essay of the Week (1/21/07 to 1/27/07)
It is no good knowing your history if you are willfully blind to the lessons that it gives. Victor Davis Hanson has a Ph.D. in the Classics from Stanford University, so he knows his history. But as “Spengler” demonstrates in this week’s “essay of the week” that does not stop Hanson from being willfully blind to the lessons that history offers.
“Spengler” published this essay a year ago, but it still stands as a valid rebuke to those who believe that we can cure the world’s ills by spreading democracy.
Why use a Rock when you can use a Nuke?
There is a fair amount in the news about the Chinese knocking a satellite out of orbit. I have to say that I am surprised that I have not seen any conservative bloggers getting all hysterical about this yet.
Maybe I just read all the wrong blogs, I don’t know.

Pondering the Battle of Bicocca
The Chief’s essay “Pondering the battle of Bicocca” is bizarre. Who else would compare the United State’s Air Force to the Swiss Pike Formations? But we think that it makes a nice change from the typical talk about the US Military.
This was the first essay that the Chief ever wrote for his web site, so the writing is not his best. But nobody reads the Chief for good writing. Rather, they read him for interesting ideas.
