Bogus News Story Of The Day

Trump Fires Preet Bharara and 45 Other US Attorneys, Media Hysteria Ensues. Look, everyone knows the hysteria over the firings are bogus. But I wanted to highlight them because the Preet Bharara really sticks in my craw. He should be in jail because of this but most people seem to have forgotten it. The story only dates back to 2015 but I guess nobody can remember that far back.

Shut Up About Daylight Saving Time, It’s Actually Great. This article is bogus for many reasons. But even if you took the studies it cites at face value (there are problems with them in reality) the article is self refuting. The money quote “In fact, studies actually estimate that we could save about 366 more lives per year if we extended DST all year round.”

How the CIA Forgot the Art of Spying. What makes this story bogus is that it presumes the CIA was good at its job to begin with. I know of no real evidence that would back that up and I fairly widely read on the subject.

Justice Thomas sharply criticizes civil forfeiture laws. You might think that if it is in the Washington Post, it is in the news. But it is just a blog that the post runs and I doubt most people will ever get to see the words that Justice Thomas wrote. It is an issue that should have more attention but sadly judges like Thomas seem to be rare.
