This article makes a good point that I never really thought of though it is obvious when you think about. All the new gas fired power plants are dependent on the same gas pipeline network. Since we have shut down coal and don’t have much nuclear, this means that if that gas pipeline network goes down for any reason you lose most of your electrical generation at one stroke.
