Starving Yemen to Death. Mr. Larson has a strong political ax to grind that I find off putting. That said, if we had a real news media you would here more about Yemen at the very least. Even aside for humanitarian concerns, what is going on there has the possibility of effecting us all for years to come.

Spiders could theoretically eat every human on Earth in one year. This is a kinda of bogus story that is typical of the Washington Post. Still, it is a nice collection of “facts” to keep on hand for use on those with certain phobias.

Three people are arrested after Trump supporters are doused with pepper spray as they clash with protesters during Make America Great Again march in Huntington Beach . I don’t like linking to the Daily Mail, but the pictures are worth it. It seems that the “anti-fascist” left has tried the same tactics to many times in a row. It is starting to produce a counter reaction where people are ready to pay them back in kind. I don’t think that is a good thing for the country as a whole, but it is to be expected.

How Pakistan Is Planning to Fight a Nuclear War. Not a lot new here for those who have been keeping up. But how many people have been keeping up on this issue? If you have not been keeping up on this issue, the comment section might be even more educational then the article, if only to show where some peoples heads are at.
“Dig once” bill could bring fiber Internet to much of the US Seems like a common sense idea and rare example of bipartisanship that is actually good for the country. But as always, the devil is in the details. How do you decided (and how many reams of paper work does it take) who gets to pull cable? What if anything do they get to pay? What kind of constructions standards do you mandate for the pipes? That said, it does not seem like those problems should be insurmountable.

An Urgent Plea to the International Community to Protect Mosul and its Residents. I feel for the dude as supposedly he really is in the city. But this demonstrates the problems with feeling and not thinking. If you think instead of feel, there is nothing worthwhile about this post, particularly as he was crying all along for ISIS to be driven out of Mosul. Regardless of their morals, the Iraqi Army has only three choices. They can leave ISIS alone and not bother them, they can starve them out (the safest way, but every civilian trapped with them will starve along with them), or they can come into where they are fortified and blast them out. None of those options is a good option for the people in the city. They lose no mater which one gets chosen.

South American group has the healthiest arteries ever seen. I think the writers of this article are making the same mistake that the Atkins diet crowd makes. It is not the diet that matters. It is this “While people living in cities are sedentary for more than half their waking hours, the Tsimane are inactive for only 10 per cent of the day.” The same things has already been noted for the Amish. Amish who are active all day long (farmers) and Amish who are not active all day long (shop keepers) have the same diets but wildly different health outcomes.
